Hi, I’m Peter!

Peter Van Nuland, New Story Landscapes, Certified Professional Horticulturist, Landscape Designer

Peter Van Nuland | Owner, CPH, EcoPRO

I love to create beautiful outdoor spaces that support biodiversity and foster moments of joy and connection with the natural world.

As a Certified Professional Horticulturist, I’m trained to help solve garden challenges— from plant selection to pruning— to help ensure a flourishing garden. I’m also EcoPRO Certified in over 200 sustainable landscape management techniques including:

  • Protecting and Conserving Soils

  • Conserving Water and Energy

  • Protecting Water and Air Quality

  • Protecting and Creating Wildlife Habitat

  • Using Sustainable Methods and Materials

  • Protecting & Enhancing Human Health & Well-being

My background in environmental education and organic farming imparts a consciousness of symbiotic thriving, and supports those clients who want to prioritize food cultivation and a holistic relationship with the land where they live and grow. I am dedicated to designing and stewarding residential landscapes with honor and care, and I am nourished by these opportunities to combine my creativity, competence, and love for working with my hands and breath. I find meaning and purpose in creating gardenscapes of hope: places of refuge and wellbeing for all types of people, animals, fungi, and living beings.

When I'm not immersed in a garden I enjoy cooking, intentional rest, and playing music with my best-friend-love-of-my-life. I maintain a daily meditation practice, and I am an active volunteer with the Northwest Vipassana Association. My love for nature and my commitment to mindfulness practice shape my design and gardening style, infusing every garden with a sense of harmony and love.
