Kind Words
“Our work with Peter to cultivate, nurture, and steward our little patch of earth in South Seattle continues to be generative and fruitful. He has partnered with us to design our ~5000 square foot urban lot in a way that considers both our lives and the life of the land. Through intentional, professional, and easy consultation, he's designed and delivered our vision for future-kiddo play space, an ample mini-orchard and vegetable boxes, and a meandering path to remind us of our connection to beloved mountain trails. What's more, he's educated our commitment to permaculture and drought-tolerant approaches. Peter gives us spacious, expert, forward-looking guidance about what and where to plant, so that we can consider the changing climate and our evolving needs for our home's outdoor spaces. Not only is Peter deeply knowledgeable about plants and landscape design, he's also creative, communicative, and extremely effective. His artistry is always balanced with pragmatism and pro-active thinking. We're so grateful to work with Peter and our yard looks MAGICAL! :) ”

“Peter Van Nuland is our gardener, and we are very lucky to have him. He can design and create landscapes and arbors; he can put in irrigation systems; he can plant; he can weed; he can clean up when needed. Most gardeners will do one or two of those things at most; Peter has the knowledge and willingness to do them all. He is a delightful, intelligent, and conscientious person. I would recommend him without reservation.”

“We have a diverse yard that was getting a bit overgrown, and Peter jumped right in with all the tools and skills to handle the variety. Within the day, he had transformed our landscape into a gorgeous oasis plus gave us tips on how to best look after everything until his next visit. Peter is skilled, wise, and friendly; he has a great attitude and is truly passionate about nature and plants!”

"Peter is a knowledgeable, reliable, hardworking gardener and a pleasure to work with. He comes once a month for a fixed number of hours and is tasked with "doing what he thinks the garden needs". He gets an impressive amount done and makes good choices which have been helping our garden flourish. He also helps us decide on garden improvements as the need arises. We highly recommend him."

“I know Peter outside of his profession and know him to be a warm and thoughtful, purposeful and kind person. I wanted to start working on planting more on my property both for fruit production as well as providing habitat for birds and other wildlife, windbreaks, and shade trees. I sort of knew what I wanted but didn't know how to put it all together. I have to say, I felt a bit overwhelmed. A mutual friend reminded me of Peter's business, so I reached out to him. Peter really listened to what I wished to do with my property and helped me to get started. We met and walked around my land and then Peter came back with a plan that was beautifully presented both with a computer sketch and also with details in terms of spacing and placement. His plan also included suggestions for trees and shrubs and support plants in areas where I knew what purpose I wanted served, but didn't know how to make it happen. What a wonderful experience working with Peter. Because of his joy in what he does, which comes through in spades when he works with you, I cherished the whole process and experience from beginning to end. Not only did I get help with planning things and had my plants so lovingly set in place by him, the whole experience has so enhanced my feelings about my home. I have so much gratitude for how Peter works, his knowledge, willingness to listen, and his enthusiasm. Any home and land will be blessed by Peter's work.”
